Wetlands Interactive Map: Introduction
The Wetlands Map Service provides access to information on the wetlands of Lower Mekong Basin via an interactive map. It integrates GIS and Earth Observation layers with field survey data including photographs and provides access to additional information by linking to other map layers, relevant websites and documentation.
The map service presently consists of 20 geographic layers containing attribute information from different databases. Current layers include base map and topography, LANDSAT images, wetlands classification, field survey GPS locations, RADARSAT images and maximum flood extent. The wetland classification is presented in two levels as simplified and detailed wetland classes. The layers are scale-dependent, so not all of them are visible at the same time. By using the "Info" or "Select" tool, you can access the information stored in the database tables.
At this point, two layers provide the users with access to additional information. Clicking with the "Hyper Link Tool" on the wetland study sites/areas layer provides access to site description page with more links to other relevant information including RADARSAT images of that site and links to other web sites. By zooming closer into the study area, the user can preview the field survey site locations and access survey information by using the "Identify Tool" and preview the photographs of each survey site by using "Hyper Link Tool".
For more information on how to use those tools, please see "Help" on the Wetlands Interactive Map page.
